Edmonton Oilers general manager Ken Holland made a bold exciting statement on Friday about his captain Connor McDavid.

If we stick to his word, McDavid is doing great and won’t miss the start of training camp in Edmonton.

“He’s doing great”, Holland began when he spoke with the Edmonton Journal. “He’s rehabilitating”.
“I expect to see him on the ice at training camp. Working very closely with our medical team and the medical people that he’s got in Toronto to make sure he is getting the best care possible”.
“He’s in great spirits”.

The new Oilers GM and the star player finally met and discussed his recovery process.

“I really enjoyed meeting him. It was the first time that I’d really got to spend more than just shaking his hand in the hallway as a visiting team. He’s doing great and looking forward to being on the ice at training camp”.

We are sure Oilers fans would love more details from the general manager, however, we can’t expect him to have a whole lot more after meeting with McDavid just once.

And we get it: recently we’ve come to learn that “no news is good news” when it comes to McDavid.

But let’s hope for the Oilers that Holland’s promise will come to fruition in September at training camp.
