One of the most respected coaches in the NHL has been fired.
This one comes as a big surprise.

This has to come as a major surprise even in spite of what was a disappointing season.
The Calgary Flames have announced that they have parted way with their head coach, Bob Hartley, after the team took a major step back this season and not only failed to make the playoffs, but finished among the worst teams in the National Hockey League.
Hartley is coming off a 2014-2015 season that saw him win the Jack Adams Award as the NHL's best coach, and now just one year later he finds himself ousted from that job. Obviously a coach with that kind of pedigree will probably not need long to find himself a new job.
The Flames struggles this season were goaltending related, and at no point did the Flames make a move to address the issue, the blame being laid at the feet of Hartley feels not only unjust, but also feels like it may have been a mistake by the Flames.
