Ottawa city council members receive calendars featuring photos from Sens owner Eugene Melnyk's African safari

Hot on the heels of yesterday’s public relations fiasco for Ottawa Senators owner Eugene Melnyk in which it was uncovered that Melnyk is being sued for $1 billion, the unpopular executive is back in the news again.   

In case you missed it, according to a report from CTV Ottawa, Trinity Development, an Ottawa based land developer, is suing Ottawa Senators owner Eugene Melnyk and Capital Sports Management Inc for $1 billion over its partnership to redevelop Lebreton Flats.

 In Trinity’s suit the group claims that “CSMI and its guiding-mind principal, officer and director, Eugene Melnyk, together with other CSMI executives, including then CEO Cyril Leeder knew about 900 Albert from the outset of the RLG Joint Venture... 900 Albert was an integral part of the CSMI/Trinity relationship.”

In effect, Trinity alleges that Melnyk backed out of the arena and redevelopment plan because he was upset that someone else was going to profit off of the construction of some condos nearby. Seriously…

Today, the Ottawa Citizen reports that Melnyk delivered 2019 calendars to Ottawa city council members that featured photos and facts from his family’s safari in South Africa…

I mean… this guy has ZERO self awareness…

The calendar, featuring animal pictures from Melnyk’s family safari in South Africa, includes a message from the Ottawa Senators owner and his two daughters.

“What a great year 2018 was and now we welcome a New Year,” the message says alongside a picture of Melnyk.

Each photo is accompanied by some interesting facts about the animal. For example, the calendar says rhinos can’t see well, but they smell their prey, and the zebra has a unique pattern of black and white stripes.

It also includes a reminder about Melnyk’s birthday — May 27, in case anyone wants to send him a card.

Again… can you lack ANY sense of self? Does this guy not have a clue!? #MelnykOut
