A crafty play from the Capitals captain.

The Capitals captain is known more as a volume shooter than he is as a clever player, but he put he game smarts on full display on Monday night.

In a critical game three for both teams Alex Ovechkin made a great play by hiding himself behind the linesman during a Flyer change, and it appears to have fooled the Flyers. Ovechkin made it count, taking a pass from teammate Nicklas Backstrom at the flyers blue line, using a few quick strides to close the gap, and firing a goal past Mason.

As great as Ovechkin was on the play, Backstrom deserves a great deal of credit for even finding him, and making the pass with three Flyers players contesting the puck at one point, and with Ovechkin behind the linesman. Some credit should also go to Flyers' goaltender Steve Mason for giving up a bit of a softie on the play.
