It has been an amazing weekend for both John Scott and NHL fans around the world.

It culminated with the long-time enforcer being named MVP of the NHL All-Star Game recording two goals in two games, and captaining the Pacific Division to a $1-million cash prize at the league's first 3-on-3 tournament.

There were so many memories made at this year's game involving Scott, from his playful open ice hit on Patrick Kane leading to the two dropping the gloves, or scoring on a clean breakaway for his second marker. It was no wonder the crowd at Bridgestone Arena chanted his name until the very end.

His teammates even hoisted his 6'8/260 lbs frame on their shoulders after the victory.

Even though he wasn't the best skater, or the most talented goal scorer on the ice this weekend, Scott's mere presence added an undeniable charm to the event. The argument can be made that this year's All-Star Game was so successful only because of Scott, which is ironic considering how much the league tied to discourage Scott from participating. The votes were cast and eventually Scott was allowed his moment in the sun. This should be a lesson to the NHL because everyone loves an underdog story, a theme seen throughout the realm of sports. Having heart is a winner among NHL fans and always has been.

If these are John Scott's final strides as an NHLer, this was by far the best way to go out he could have ever hoped for.
