Penguins lose one of their most valuable players to injury.

A huge loss for Pittsburgh.

It initially looked like superstar defenseman Kris Letang was going to be alright, but that is now clearly not the case.

Letang suffered an injury on Saturday night when his Penguins faced off against the Detroit Red Wings, and while it initially seemed like a very minor injury with Letang returning to the game, he would eventually be forced to leave the game for good shortly after coming back to the bench.

On Monday Penguins head coach Mike Sullivan revealed more bad news when he announced that the injury would keep Letang out "week to week," with what the team is calling a lower body injury.  Sullivan however did not appear to be overly concerned by the news.

"Obviously he's a hard guy to replace," Sullivan said as per NHL.com. "He's our top defenseman, but we've done it before. He's been out before. We've got capable people. It won't be any one guy -- it'll be by committee. Let's not get ahead of ourselves. We'll see how he is."

Letang has often been criticized for being physically frail and easily injured, and with 12 games already missed this season due to injury and now this on top of it, that reputation won't be going away anytime soon.
