The Penguins attempted to bring forward Jason Zucker to Pittsburgh this past summer, but someone was having none of it. You remember correctly, that was Phil Kessel, who nixed a trade that would have sent him to Minnesota in return for the Wild forward. It did not take place and, as you know, Kessel was eventually move to Arizona in return for Alex Galchenyuk.

However, it appears that Pens general manager Jim Rutherford has not given up on the idea of acquiring Zucker. Josh Yohe of The Athletic reports that Zucker remains a realistic trade option for the Penguins ahead of the trade deadline. He believes the Penguins would like to add a top-six winger for a playoff run and tells us to remember that Zucker is in the mix.

He also suggests Los Angeles Kings forward Tyler Toffoli as another possibility, which could come at a more affordable price.

However, the Penguins might be patient with this one. The team is hoping to get healthier after the Christmas break so Rutherford might be willing to wait until he gets his players back before making significant moves.

The Wild has also been back on track for the past few weeks and Zucker might be expensive at the moment. However, there is no doubt that the veteran player is used to being linked to trade rumours by now.
