Prized defenseman involved in big trade rumors after terrible start from his team.

Despite being the key piece in a blockbuster trade just a little over a year ago, it now sounds like Dougie Hamilton could realistically be traded again.

The Calgary Flames defenseman has been the subject of some big trade rumors in recent weeks and we received some confirmation regarding those rumors from Sportsnet insider Nick Kypreos.

"As far as trade talks are concerned you hear Dougie Hamilton’s name out there,” Kypreos said via Sportsnet.

It's crazy to think that the Flames would consider moving a player they gave up so much for in June of 2015, shipping a first round draft choice as well as two second round draft choices to the Boston Bruins. With that that said the Flames obviously expected Hamilton to become a number one caliber defenseman and that unfortunately has not been the case, at least not thus far.

The Flames will want a big return to recoup as much as they can on their investment, but there's no doubt that Hamilton's performance has lowered his value in the eyes of other teams. As far as what team's are involved, Kypreos named two names.

"The two teams I’m hearing that are kicking tires are Arizona and Pittsburgh.”
