A New York Rangers fan has plead guilty for assaulting a Tampa Bay Lightning fan following the Rangers' playoff exit after a 3-1 loss to the Lightning.
James Anastasio, 29 of Staten Island, NY, was sentenced to attend anger management and serve 200 hours of community service as a result. Video of Anastasio's assault went assault and lead to his arrest and a lifetime ban from Madison Square Garden.
Here's the video (and the assault) in question:
Anastasio's attorney Jason Goldman says that his client is happy with the sentence and is taking full responsibility for his actions. “This speedy resolution aligns with James’ desire to take responsibility," Goldman told the Tampa Bay Times. "None of us should be judged by our worst 30 seconds, and he is grateful to learn from this experience without having to spend a single day in jail.”
