Babcock noticeably angry after bad loss.

The Toronto Maple Leafs appeared to be cruising to a relatively smooth victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets on Monday night, until they weren't.

The Maple Leafs coughed up a two-goal lead, thanks in large part to some solid goaltending by Blue Jackets netminder Sergei Bobrovsky, before eventually falling to the Blue Jackets 3 - 2 in overtime.

Unsurprisingly head coach Mike Babcock was none too pleased with the loss from his team, and after the game he took the opportunity to address the matter publicly, stating that his team had effectively given away a free win.

“Ya gotta learn. Ya gotta learn what it takes to get points... We let it get away.”

Babcock also stated that his team needed to improve, but when asked for specifics the coach let a little of his anger at the tough loss seep through his normally stony facade.

"I think we can get way better. I think there is a whole other level we have to get to if we’re going to have any success." What does that level look like? "I don’t have time … maybe on an off-day after practice I might be in a better mood to talk about that."

It wasn't all bad from Babcock however, Morgan Rielly is already receiving a lot of criticism for a bad giveaway that led to a Blue Jackets goal, and Babcock was quick to come to his defense.

"I think Morgan is having a real good year and made a mistake tonight."

All in all a very tough loss to swallow for the Leafs.
