According to a report from CSNNE.com’s Joe Haggerty, the Boston Bruins have made four significant cuts from their preseason roster. Headed to the team’s AHL affiliate the Providence Bruins are the following players:

Zane McIntyre - Goaltender
Zach Senyshyn - Forward
Jesse Gabrielle - Defense
Jakob Zboril - Defense

To date, these are the deepest cuts of the Bruins preseason roster. With McIntye out of the picture it looks like the backup job in Boston will go to either Malcolm Subban or Anton Khudobin

As for the other cuts, Senyshyn has to be seen as a disappointment. The 20-year-old dominated the game at the junior level last season with the OHL’s Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds putting up 42 goals in just 59 games. He’ll be expected to make his first step into pro hockey with a full season in the AHL in 2017-18.

Both Gabrielle and Zboril, while impressive in training camp and preseason, aren’t particularly surprising cuts. The young defenders show a lot of promise, but typically defensemen tend to benefit from some seasoning in the minors. Look for both players to spend some time at both the AHL and NHL levels this season and really make a run for a full-time spot with the B’s in 2017-18.
