Report: DeBoer has chosen his next team

According to NHL insider Jeff Marek, the Dallas Stars are expected to announce that they are hiring recently fired Vegas Golden Knights coach Pete DeBoer as their new head coach, replacing Rick Bowness.

On The Jeff Marek Show both Marek and Elliotte Friedman were discussing DeBoer and the Stars when Marek reported:

"The whispers are getting louder about DeBoer.  Barring a major change, I would expect he's the guy."

If indeed DeBoer is hired by the Stars, I'm not sure he's the best choice. DeBoer is a quality coach, no doubt but he's more the type of guy that you bring in to help a team get over the hump. The Stars, to me at least, are very much a team in transition I'm not sure DeBoer is the type of guy you bring in to help navigate a full on rebuild or even a re-tool on the fly type of team. Time will tell, I suppose...
