Report: Desharnais would've preferred a different destination than New York!

Could he eventually find himself there before he retires?

Journeyman David Desharnais, now a member of the New York Rangers, had some interesting things to say recently in an interview with Dan Pou on FM93.

He commented on the fact that his team currently belongs to Henrik Lundqvist, but as he eventually fades out of the picture, it will become former Montreal Canadiens draft pick Ryan McDonagh's.

He also commented on the team's struggles, mentioning that often allowing the first goal in a game deflates the team.

He went on to discuss the differences between the three teams he's played for in his NHL career thus far. He noted that while the Rangers are mainly a defensive team with a touch of offensive flair, the Edmonton Oilers, his previous team, depended largely on their offense to win games, while the Canadiens were a purely defensive team. That probably explains why they couldn't score goals.

The most interesting tidbit of this interview, however, was when asked about the expansion draft.

He mentioned that he would've loved to have been picked up by the Vegas Golden Knights - he has a good relationship with head coach Gerard Gallant from his team as assistant coach in Montreal. He explained that the coach was a big influence on his success and would have loved to play for him again.

Maybe he'll find his way there on the next stop of his NHL career.

Desharnais currently has 5 points in 11 games with the Rangers.
