Report: Flyers place veteran center on waivers Friday.

The Philadelphia Flyers have placed one of their veteran forwards on waivers.

According to a report from Sportsnet insider Elliotte Friedman journeyman center Boyd Gordon was placed on the waiver wire Friday, and the motivation here appears to be clear.

There are rumblings that veteran defenseman Mark Streit will be coming off injured reserve is set for a return to the line up , Gordon being waived will allow the Flyers to free up the necessary cap space to bring Streit back into the fold.

Gordon has one goal in his thirteen appearances for the Flyers this season and it seems highly unlikely that he will be claimed by a rival NHL organization.
