The decision from the Rangers to add at the deadline was somewhat confusing when taking in to account the fact that both defenseman Ryan McDonagh and forward Rick Nash were sideline with injuries that had no clear timetable.

It appears the Rangers may have known more than they let on, and now just days after the deadline there is major news to announce regarding the Rangers injured star forward, Rick Nash. Nash skated for the first time since suffering a bone bruise that has kept him sidelined far longer than was projected.

“Today was a great day,” said Nash, as per Newsday. “I thought it was going to be a day-to-day thing, take a few days to get better; seemed like it was one of those injuries that had to get worse before it got better, and that was the case. We just took our time.”

“It was a good day to kind of get the stride going, but you guys saw it, I didn’t do anything crazy, stops and starts, so it’s going to be a bit of a process to get my legs back, my wind back, get my timing back. The big thing now is that hopefully there’s no setbacks. Right now I’m focused on getting better each day and today was a great step.”

Nash has missed significant time, so there may be a lengthy process before he gets into game shape, and it could still be several days, perhaps even weeks before he is ready to re-insert himself into the line up. On top of that the addition of Eric Staal raises some question about where Nash will play, however he says all he cares about now is winning it all.

“The point that I’m at in my career, I want to win a championship. If that means playing a different role than I did before, it doesn’t matter to me…He’s a great guy to have on your team.”

This has to be viewed as great news for the Rangers.
