Luke Kunin of the Minnesota Wild scored his career NHL goal in his 5th career game.

And all things considered, it was quite the way to get his first marker.

The goal was his 3rd point of the young player's career - and it came shorthanded off a slick pass from teammate Eric Staal.

Per Elias Sports, Kunin's shorthanded tally was a very rare feat.

It's impressive that in the NHL's long history, only one other player has scored their first goal on the penalty kill. Perhaps it's not quite so surprising - rookie forwards are less likely to be trusted by the coaching staff to play shorthanded, nevermind in their 5th game.

Bruce Boudreau did just that and reaped the rewards. And so did Kunin.

Kunin was selected 15th overall in 2016 by Minnesota.
