The Toronto Maple Leafs have made a pair of roster moves ahead of game day.

According to an official announcement from Maple Leafs Public Relations, the team has called up both goaltender Garret Sparks and forward Kasperi Kapanen a day before facing off against the Florida Panthers.

The call up of Sparks is likely related to the upper-body injury suffered by goaltender Frederik Andersen over the week-end. Andersen has not been officially ruled out, but the Leafs are likely going to be playing it safe with their starting goaltender, so this move makes a lot of sense.

The call up of Kapanen however may be related to the young forwards performance in the American Hockey League. With a point a game with the Toronto Marlies this season, the Leafs may want to get a closer look at the 20-year-old.
