Report: Oilers may have left a roster spot open for college prospect.

This could be a very interesting season in Edmonton.

While you may not agree with the decision Edmonton Oilers general manager Peter Chiarelli made this summer, you have to at the very least admire his willingness to shake things up and take big risks to get a team that has become a perennial loser out of the gutter.

It seems like the Oilers aren't done shaking things up either, and they may in fact have hopes of another big change to their line up this summer, seemingly leaving the door open for recently signed collegiate prospect Drake Caggiula to claim the 13th forward spot on the roster.

TSN insider Bob McKenzie mentioned this during a recent radio segment, stating that while Caggiula isn't locked in to the roster, the Oilers are in fact hopeful he can claim that spot.

"I know the Oilers are expecting him to contend for one of the 13 forward spots on their team," said McKenzie as per Nichols on Hockey. "Not 100% lock. "

"I think they think highly of him and they want to give him every opportunity to try and make the team."

It would be just one more new face on the Edmonton roster in what is already looking like what will be a very exciting season for Oilers fans regardless of how it turns out.
