The Edmonton Oilers suffered a humiliating 8-3 loss yesterday at the hands of the St. Louis Blues, and dropped to a 7-12-2 record this season. Now GM Peter Chiarelli has decided where he believes the team needs an upgrade - the blueline, but NHL insider Bob McKenzie believes he should first look at his past deals that are not hunting him and the team.

"The Milan Lucic deal is going to come back to haunt him, I would think, Mckenzie explained on Montreal's TSN 690 on Wednesday morning. "Eberle-Strome, you can be critical of that. There’s lots of things that he’s done or not done that are factors and may be worth criticism.

TSN Hockey Insiders Pierre LeBrun and Darren Dreger both reported on Insider Trading on Tuesday that Chiarelli is looking to add a defenseman in hopes of fixing the team before it's too late.

“No question Peter Chiarelli is working the phones hard, from what we can gather. I think he’d like to add on his blueline. Clearly the team’s defensive play is suspect right now," LeBrun repeated this morning on Vancouver's TSN 1040.

McKenzie added that Columbus Blue Jackets defenseman Ryan Murray's name continues to be used as trade bait as the team looks to land a centre, while Panthers blue liner Alex Petrovic has been he's frustrated with his role in Florida and could want to move elsewhere.

Chiarelli looks to make a move to right the ship now, but will this one come back to hunt them?
