Just more fuel for the raging Penguins’ fiery offence.

Multiple reports from the Pittsburgh Penguins odd day practice today indicate that head coach Mike Sullivan could be making substantial changes to his team’s lineup for Saturday evening’s game against the Washington Capitals.

Pittsburgh Tribune writer Jonathan Bombulie reported that forward Patrik Hornqvist was not on the ice at Capitals practice complex in Washington, D.C. and that forward Carl Hagelin had returned to full practice after weeks of taking part in only non-contact drills. This revelation has fuelled rumors that Hagelin may in fact replace Hornqvist for game 2, but of course Johnston and the Penguins haven’t confirmed anything yet.

Bombulie also reported that Pens defensemen Trevor Daley and Brian Dumoulin did not skate with the team, which also raised eyebrows. It’s not known whether the two blue liners are injured or were merely taking advantage of a rest day, but tomorrow’s lineup should indicate their condition.
