Report: Red Wings forward has reportedly suffered serious offseason injury.

The details are still unclear but there are initial reports of a major offseason injury to Detroit Red Wings forward Tomas Jurco.

It was Red Wings reporter Greg Krupa of The Detroit News who first broke the story, and according to Kuppa the injury is serious enough that it will require Jurco to undergo offseason back surgery. It's unclear just how exactly Jurco was hurt, what we do know is he will not be expected back in the Red Wings line up until some time after mid October.

There were some rumors that Detroit may be looking to trade one of it's young forwards for help on defense prior to the start of this season, however Jurco was widely considered the most likely and most valuable candidate for such a move, and this may severely hinder those plans.
