It appears as though the Justin Williams experiment in DC is drawing to a close. With the Capitals in a salary cap crunch and the 35 year old Williams’ contract expiring, he’ll likely to head to the open market on July 1st. In fact, one NHL insider, TSN’s Darren Dreger, reports that there’s no shortage of interest for “Mr. Game 7”.

It’s unclear whether the Caps are among the teams still interested in Williams’ services, but the speculation is that they’d like him back at a reduced price. But, teams like the Chicago Blackhawks, Pittsburgh Penguins, Anaheim Ducks, New York Rangers, Columbus Blue Jackets, Los Angeles Kings, Nashville Predators and Toronto Maple Leafs may have something to say about that.

Even at 35 years of age, Williams proved that he can still play. Last season with the Caps he produced 24 goals and 48 points in 82 games.
