The Dallas Stars have signed a giant.

The team announced that they have announced that they have come to terms with former first round draft pick Jamie Oleksiak, despite the fact that he has failed to find a consistent role on the organizations NHL roster. When you consider how shallow the Dallas Stars blue line has been at times in recent seasons, it's a damning condemnation of Oleksiak's development since being drafted 14th overall.

The Stars did not disclose the financial terms of the deal, but it's believed to be somewhere in the neighborhood of $900,000 for the one year term of the deal. Oleksiak at 6'7 260lbs has physical gifts many defensemen would dream of, but at this stage in his development it's clear that the likely hood of a break out is low, and his new contract from Dallas reflects that.
