The Detroit Red Wings are hoping to one thing very clear: they aren’t shopping restricted free agent forward Andreas Athanasiou, who’s now in Switzerland mulling over his options.

Contract talks between the two sides remain at an impasse, while rival clubs are reportedly calling to inquire about Athanasiou. According to Ken Campbell of the Hockey News, three teams are showing a lot of interest to land the 23-year-old winger: “the Montreal Canadiens, Ottawa Senators and Los Angeles Kings displaying the most interest in him.”

The three teams are in need of scoring depth, but GM Ken Holland is reluctant to move the forward since he does not want to send the wrong message to their other young players that they could be traded if contract talks stall.

Holland has however consider an asking price for Athanasiou,  reportedly a young player of comparable skill.

"Athanasiou’s agent Darren Ferris would not comment on the speculation, but said the situation will be resolved one way or another within a week," writes Campbell.

The young forward could also decide to stay take part in the 2018 Winter Olympics. But a lot could go down between now and Dec. 1.
