Could TVR’s days… err I mean day, in Vegas be coming to an end? Trevor van Riemsdyk, the 25 year-old defenseman acquired by the Vegas Golden Knights from the Chicago Blackhawks in last night’s 2017 NHL Expansion Draft, is expected to be on the move already, according to one NHL insider.

While the report is purely speculative and rumor at this point, on the surface it makes sense for Carolina. The smooth skating van Riemsdyk has untapped offensive potential and would fit perfectly into the Hurricanes’ young D corps. Which begs the question, why would Vegas be so eager to trade him? Well, the return is always relevant. Vegas general manager George McPhee has made it no secret that he’s looking to acquire draft picks, and lots of them, in advance of this weekend’s NHL Entry Draft.

So, will TVR go down in history as the first roster player traded by the Golden Knights? For now, all we can do is wait and see.
