Only one year after being one goal short from the Stanley Cup finals, the Ottawa Senators are now going nowhere fast and will most likely miss this years playoffs with an abysmal streak of 12 losses in 13 games.
Now the big question in Ottawa is what to do with team captain and superstar Erik Karlsson who publicly stated that he will not offer any hometown discount when he becomes UFA after next season and that business is business.
According to insider Pierre LeBrun, who confirmed on TSN 690 that the Sens did in fact ask for his 10-team no trade list, no Karlsson trade is imminent this season but next summer could be very different.
LeBrun think that there is no way the Sens will start next season with him on their lineup if a contract has not been agreed upon before, claiming that it would become a circus all season long around the team and nobody on Sens management wants that.
One thing is for sure, whichever team gets their hands on him will have to pay an hefty price!
