All we have been hearing for the past several days regarding the Philadelphia Flyers and their massive losing streak has been that the team intends to stay the course and allow the ship to right itself. However after their tenth straight loss in a row on Saturday afternoon, things may have changed.

During the Saturday Headlines segment during the intermission of the match up between the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Vancouver Canucks, Sportsnet insider Nick Kypreos touched on the fact that one of the biggest names on that Flyers roster could soon be moved.

"Wayne Simmonds might be a name we will hear a little bit more and more towards the trade deadline February 26tth."

A trade involving Simmonds would be a shocking move indeed, but Kypreos believes that as the losses continue to pile up general manager Ron Hextall will be forced to make some difficult decisions.

One more interesting note from Kypreos was the fact that a National Hockey League executive he spoke too informed him that there is a belief around the league that Simmonds is the Flyers' most valuable asset.

While that may sound like a bit of a stretch on a roster that also boasts players like Claude Giroux and Jakub Voracek, Simmonds flexibility and ability to play multiple roles may be why there is that perception around him. It may also stem from the fact that the NHL executive in question views Giroux and Voracek as untouchable players, and therefore they would not be considered trade assets.
