Rumor: Rangers about to pull the trigger on major trade

Important changes are coming to New York City. Do you think this is the best way to go?!

When the New York Rangers and the Montreal Canadiens faced off on Saturday, many fans pictured the losing team of the game to be the one facing the tough choices.

Now, not only does New York Post's Larry Brooks suggest that head coach Alain Vigneault's judgement day might come tonight, as the Rangers play against the Vegas Golden Knights, he thinks that GM Jeff Gorton could make a major trade to improve the roster.

According to Brooks, the Rangers are seriously looking at Habs forward Andrew Shaw, whose style of play fits greatly in the Big Apple and could improve the team's lack of offensive boost and grit.

"The Blueshirts also like Montreal’s Andrew Shaw, the abrasive 26-year-old forward who can play both center and wing and who plays an edgy, abrasive game unlike anyone currently on the New York roster," Brooks writes in his morning column

However, many wonder if Shaw is worth parting with forward Chris Kreider, who is now said to be on the trading block along with other big names from the lineup.

The Rangers management followed the Canadiens in Ottawa last night to check out more of Shaw. It was also reported that New York could be interested in Alex Galcheyuk, but Shaw appears to be a better option for what it lacks at the moment.

Could this trade change things up in time to ensure that the Rangers are still in the running for a playoff spot? Or should Gorton fire Vigneault, and start over behind the bench with the core players he has on board now?
