There are conflicting reports right now but it sounds like there is a possibility that one NHL team may lose one of their veteran forwards.

Despite the fact that St. Louis Blues center Vladimir Sobotka is by all accounts expected to join the Blues roster after the World Cup of Hockey, there are now reports out of Russia that he will be leaving his NHL club high and dry and going back to the KHL instead.

Russian report Igor Eronko is reporting that the general manager of KHL club Avangard has made it clear he expects Sobotka to join his organization after the World Cup is over.

'Sobotka will join us as soon as he's healthy. Forget about St. Louises and other nonsense'

However today a report via the St. Louis Post-Dispatch has St. Louis Blues general manager Doug Armstrong telling a very different story.

"I've talked to Petr Svoboda daily over the last few weeks and nothing has changed," Armstrong said. "(Sobotka) is getting ready for the World Cup. He's planning on staying here when that's over and coming back to our franchise. He's excited about it."

We won't be getting a definitive answer on this one until after the World Cup it seems.
