A much deserved honor.

One of the true greats of the National Hockey League received a much deserved and long overdue honor on Sunday night.

The Anaheim Ducks have had a pretty crappy campaign thus far and as a result their fans have really not had very many things to cheer for during the 2018 - 2019 National Hockey League regular season, but tonight provided some relief on that front. Just about everyone that assembled together in the Honda Center on Sunday night was plenty excited and not because of the product that they were about to witness during the game, but rather because of a ceremony that took place before the contest.

That's because for lack of a better term it was Scott Niedermayer night in Anaheim on Sunday with the former Duck set to receive an incredible honor in which he would have his jersey raised to the rafters and retired for good. It was truly a star studded event with several of Niedermeyer's former teammates, including former NHL greats Paul Kariya and Teemu Selanne making an appearance on the ice to honor the man they played alongside on their way to a Stanley Cup Championship. There were reportedly even more former Ducks tucked away in the arena somewhere, the lot of them having gone out on Saturday night for a big celebration in Niedermayer's honor.

It was as awesome a moment as you would have expected, and you can check it out in the video below.
