Boston Bruins captain and veteran defenseman Zdeno Chara is 43 years old. But that will not stop him from returning for another season.

While everyone expects him to re-sign in Beantown, Chara is still officially a free agent as of today and TSN’s Pierre LeBrun has revealed that several teams have gotten in touch with the veteran blue liner.

No one is saying that he will leave Boston, but it sounds like the decision might be more difficult than expected for Chara.

He is not believed to be in a hurry to make that call and will do it in due time, but it is interesting to see that other clubs might mess things up for the blue liner who we all think will end his career in Boston.

"I’m committed to the Bruins. I’m committed to Boston fans and the city of Boston. I think I’ve expressed that a number of times. I’m excited about the future of this team and like I said, we are going to do whatever we can to win another Stanley Cup."

Chara has mentioned more than once that he wants to remain a Bruin, but who knows what’s on the table at this point and what the Bruins will be able to offer him! On top of that, the Bruins need to make the numbers work. On Friday, they signed Kevan Miller to a two-year contract.

He has had an incredible career. In 22 seasons, has played 1,553 games, scored 205 goals, has a total of 656 points, and has a career plus/minus rating of plus-288. He’s a Norris Trophy winner, has his name on the Stanley Cup, and is a future Hall of Famer. Of course, teams are calling!

We’ll have to keep an eye on this!
