When San Jose Sharks captain Joe Pavelski’s head bounced off the ice at the SAP Center on Tuesday evening, the entire hockey world stood still. In the aftermath of everything that unfolded in the insane Game 7 between the Sharks and Vegas Golden Knights though, not much attention has been paid to Pavelski and his potentially catastrophic injury.

If you haven’t seen the play yet and the resulting images of Pavelski, be warned that this is ugly, UGLY stuff.

Check it out:

Pavelski lay on the ice for minutes while he was attended to by the in-arena medical staff and subsequently had to be helped off the ice and into the medical room by teammates.

Until today we have yet to hear an update on Pavelski’s health, but fortunately head coach Peter DeBoer has provided a positive update.

Check it out:

No confirmation yet on whether or not Pavelski suffered a concussion, but you have to imagine that he has. Hopefully both Pavelski and the Sharks’ medical staff address this injury with the proper care that it requires.
