Edmonton Oilers forward Riley Sheahan has been forced out of tonight’s game against the Columbus Blue Jackets after taking an ugly hit from behind courtesy of Jackets forward Pierre-Luc Dubois.

Here’s the hit in question:

That’s an ugly, ugly hit. Worth a look from NHL Player Safety?

The 27 year old Sheahan signed with the Oilers this past offseason after splitting the 2018-19 campaign with the Pittsburgh Penguins and Florida Panthers. He’s expected to help solidify the team’s centre depth on the 3rd/4th lines this season.

So far, Sheahan has gone pointless in his first 11 games with his new team. Suffice it to say, this isn’t the start that Sheahan or the Oilers were hoping for. Here’s hoping he can shake off the effects and get back on the ice no worse for wear.
