There might be no game taking place at the World Junior Championship on Wednesday, but Team Canada was still on the ice and they had a full roster.

That’s right, Alexis Lafreniere took part in a full skate with Team Canada, which could mean he may return to the lineup when they take on Slovakia in their quarterfinal match on Thursday.

Lafreniere missed most of the game against Team Russia after suffering a knee injury in the second period of the humiliating 6-0 loss. It was Canada’s only loss in the preliminary round.

The projected overall first pick for the 2020 NHL Draft  is considered as “day-to-day”, but he still swapped in and out of the team’s top line at practice, according to TSN’s Mark Masters.

Lafreniere has recorded a goal and three assists in two games at the World Juniors.

It was revealed after practice that Lafreniere is expected to be back in Canada's lineup for Thursday's quarterfinal game against Slovakia, per TSN.
