A new name has been added to the rumor mill just one day before the NHL's trade deadline.

According to Chip Alexander of The Raleigh News and Observer, the Carolina Hurricanes could be looking to trade forward Viktor Stalberg before the March. 1 cutoff date.

The 31-year old winger is currently with the Canes on a one-year, $1.5 million contract, making him a prime rental for a team in need of depth. Although the team is unlikely to begin selling off core assets, the tall Swede could draw interest due to his size and penalty killing abilities.

At 6'3/ 209 lbs, Stalberg could be a solid option as a third or fourth-line addition to any team looking for a bit of size up front. In addition, Stalberg has 43 games of playoff experience under his belt and won the Stanley Cup with the Chicago Blackhawks in 2013.

He does offer some offense when called upon, but his bread and butter remains when his team is a man down. This could be useful for a contending team who is struggling to keep the puck out of the net on the PK.

In 57 games this season Stalberg has recorded 9 goals and 3 assists, with 2 of those being shorthanded markers.

He should draw some interest in the next couple of days, as he will likely be available at an inexpensive asking price.
