Team Sweden has announced that Anaheim Ducks’ defenseman Hampus Lindholm has been asked to replace the injured Niklas Kronwall at the World Cup of Hockey, reports The Score.
Lindholm posted 10 goals and 28 points in 80 games last season, and has had relative success with his national team in 2012 by winning the silver medal at the U-18 tournament.
Notable names such as Kronwall’s and Alexander Steen’s have been replaced with others capable of filling in nicely, although both of the injured players would have had significantly more of an impact in improving Sweden’s chances of taking home the Championship.
