Well this is certainly an interesting development.

According to a report from Russian hockey insider Igor Eronko of Sports Express, it now appears that veteran National Hockey League forward Sven Andrighetto has bolted for the Kontinental Hockey League. It is unclear at this time who exactly has lured Andrighetto to the KHL but Eronko suspects that either Avangard Omsk or the Moscow Dynamo are the organizations that are most likely to have pulled off this type of move.

The 26 year old veteran winger is coming off 2 straight seasons as a member of the Colorado Avalanche, although he failed to play a fukll season in either of those years. In his most recent campaign Andrighetto would appeard in 64 games for the Avalanche and recorded 7 goals and 10 assists for a total of 17 points. In spite of a lack of dynamic offensive production Andrighetto was a positive player for the Avs, finishing with a plus minus rating of +10 on the season.

Andrighetto was of course drafted into the league in the 3rd round (86th overall) of the 2013 National Hockey League Entry Draft draft and has gone on to play in over 200 games over the course of several seasons. Always used as a depth options Andrighetto has totaled 216 career NHL games that include 31 goals and 52 assists for 83 total points.

It is unclear if Andrighetto was unable to obtain NHL offers or if he simply refused to sign the ones that were presented to him, but Eronko is the top KHL insider in the business so if he says Andrighetto is on his way oversees this is a done deal.
