Max Domi came to the aid of one of his teammates on Thursday, but the way he went about it will end up costing him.

It was announced on Friday that the Arizona Coyotes rookie forward has been suspended one game by the NHL's Department of Player Safety for instigating a fight in the final five minutes of regulation time.

With the Coyotes down 5-1 to the Anaheim Ducks late in the third period of Thursday night's game, Ducks' forward Ryan Garbutt laid out Coyotes defenseman Oliver Ekman-Larsson along the boards.

Both Domi and Coyotes' forward Anthony Duclair jumped Garbutt from behind. Domi wound up turning Garbutt around and started throwing punches, before taking him down to the ice.

Both Domi and Garbutt picked up fighting majors on the play, the Ducks' forward was also given an interference penalty.
