A bang-bang play wound up costing the New York Rangers on Friday.

In the second period of yesterday's matchup between the Rangers and Washington Capitals, a scramble for the puck in front of the Ranger net resulted in a goal against. This cut the Rangers' lead to 2-1 halfway through the game.

While there was no definitive goal call was made by the officials on the ice, the play was reviewed by the NHL's situation room in Toronto. It was ultimately determined that the puck completely crossed the goal line.

Head coach Alain Vigneault attempted to challenge the play for goaltender interference, but the referee on the ice upheld the goal against even that argument.

Capitals forward Jay Beagle was credited with his seventh tally of the season and the Capitals tied the game shortly after.

Was there enough evidence to count this as a goal without a call on the ice?
