Sour grapes? Or is the Blackhawks captain just calling it like it is?

The St. Louis Blues ended over 50 years of suffering last month when they claimed the first Stanley Cup championship in team history. But, despite all the celebration and fanfare, don’t count Chicago Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews as one of those whose happy for the long-suffering Blues fanbase.

During a recent appearance on the Waddle & Silvy ESPN radio show, Toews had some harsh words for the Blues and claims that they shouldn’t receive as much credit as they’re receiving.

Hmmmmm… sour grapes? Or just calling it like it is?

After all, the Blues were the worst team in the entire NHL by the mid-point of the season. If you’re to follow Toews’ logic, the Blues merely lucked into a playoff berth and ended up hoisting the Cup despite having an underachieving roster. 

The point still remains… the Blues are Cup champs, while Toews and the rest of the Blackhawks could only look on from their living rooms. In any case, here’s hoping these words help re-ignite a classic Central Division / Norris Division rivalry between these two teams.
