Update: Avalanche shot itself in the foot with Duchene!

Matt Duchene trade rumors are nothing new: they have been around for a year and at times we thought Duchene had played his last game in a Colorado Avalanche uniform.

Despite all the rumblings, he is still with the Avs as training camp nears, and according to USA Today's Kevin Allen, it may be a bad side for the Avalanche. Allen explains that it has now become harder to move Duchene now because so many teams have cap issues. 

Allen even adds that the Avalanche's strategy in the Duchene saga is confusing, and general manager Joe Sakic could have shot himself in the foot by waiting so long to move the center.

The price for Duchene is said to be very steep by several clubs that were interested in landing the 26-year-old. Sakic is said to be looking for a top-four defenceman, a top prospect and a No. 1 pick in return...and maybe more!
