UPDATE: Star player Trade Options

Possible opportunities for veteran player

Yesterday it was rumored that the Chicago Blackhawks coaching staff and organization are interested in looking for a forward player to replace veteran defenseman Trevor van Riemsdyk.

This came as quite the surprise since TVR hit the ice last season for all 82 games the Blackhawks faced but with the addition of fresh faces such as Gustav Forsling and Michal Kempny it is difficult to find a place for the star defenseman.

Not to mention with the return of Niklas Hjalmarsson from his three game suspension the defensive pairings seem to be very solid as is.

The issue is that Chicago cannot send TVR to the AHL without clearing waivers first and the Blackhawks would much rather pick up a forward or retain their player rather than lose the defenseman to another team.

The Edmonton Oilers have shown interest in van Riemsdyk in the past. Ottawa's defensive line can definitely use the support, considering that TVR is only 25 he still has room to grow or find a place to fit in.

More updates on the trade options to come.
