It’s been a nightmare in the NHL, especially with games getting postponed because of COVID-19 concerns. On Monday, the NHL postponed three more games because of COVID-19 concerns, bringing the total to 70 this season.
Players, fans and pundits are very vocal about the ongoing madness that it is and will be to reschedule all games, which comes on top of players having to forget about attending the 2022 Winter Games in Beijing. A lot of frustration has been gotten to the ears of the NHL and its Players Association and now Emily Kaplan of ESPN reports on Tuesday that both sides are meeting and have engaged in talks about allowing asymptomatic players to return to play earlier.
“The two sides have been in constant communication about protocols, but latest push follows new CDC recommendation shortening isolation periods. NBA has made similar adjustment.”
While this sounds promising, Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman is pointing out that the CDC recommendation could face an issue with the Canadian-American border and so, we will have to wait more details to really get excited about this.
It was reported just moments ago that more games are excepted to get postponed across the league, especially when it comes to Canadian teams facing rescheduling issues in their respective arenas. More will come on this later today, per the NHL.
