Verhaeghe scores in OT to give the Panthers some life in the Stanley Cup Final

The Florida Panthers have won their first Stanley Cup Final game in franchise history.

The Panthers, of course, were swept by the Colorado Avalanche in the team's last Cup Final and were down 2-0 in their current series against the Vegas Golden Knights. But this evening Panthers forward Carter Verhaeghe ensured that the Panthers wouldn't get swept again.

It took extra time this evening, but the Panthers finally managed to catch a break in a series that has seemingly been going Vegas' way. Tonight though, nope. The Hockey Gods seemed to be pulling for the Cats this evening.

With Vegas up 2-1 late in the game and with goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky on the bench for the extra attacker, Panthers superstar Matthew Tkachuk managed to tie the game with this gritty effort:

From there the game went to OT where Verhaege completed the comeback:

And just like that... with the slight flick of the wrist... we've got a series. Game 4 goes Saturday night in Sunrise, Florida.
