We all know by now that one of the biggest decisions in recent memory is coming up for Steven Stamkos and the Tampa Bay Lightning, however neither side has revealed anything whatsoever, making the anticipation almost unbearable.
Stamkos' agent, Don Meehan, was a guest on Prime Time Sports with Bob McCowan on Wednesday, and although as you would expect he did not reveal anything about where Stamkos would be signing, or wouldn't be signing, he did give some very interesting insight on why the decision is taking so long.
Based on comments from Meehan it sounds like the delay in an extension is more likely a result of Stamkos' decision than one from the Lightning, as he cited several times that Stamkos and his representatives owed it to themselves to do their due diligence.
Meehan also refused to answer a question about whether or not Stamkos would prefer to remain in Tampa, something the player has at the very least hinted would be his preference. Perhaps I'm ready too much into this, but his non-answer to that question suggests to me that staying in Tampa may not be his top priority after all.
