A veteran National Hockey League forward appears to see the writing on the wall.

With his New Jersey Devils unlikely to contend in the postseason and playing on a one-year-deal at 33 years of age P.A Parenteau knows he is exactly the kind of player that gets moved at this stage of the season and he admitted as much in a recent interview.

“I went through it last year,” said Parenteau as per NorthJersey.com. “I was having a really good year and I didn’t get traded. Who knows? The market changes every year.

“I’m aware of my age, and when I sign a one-year deal like that, if the team is going to be out of playoff contention, there’s a chance I get moved.”

Despite his advanced age by NHL standards Parenteau has continued to produce on struggling team with 13 goals and 12 assists to his credit for a total of 25 points in 53 games with the Devils this season.

Making a trade even more likely for Parenteau is the fact that he carries a $1.3 million dollar cap hit, something that teams with cap issues will covet as they look to add veteran depth prior to the playoffs.
