Wayne Simmonds calls out Leafs haters ahead of Game 1 against Lightning

The Wayne Train is sick and tired of hearing it.

Toronto Maple Leafs forward Wayne Simmonds doesn't want to hear your chirps anymore. He gets it... the entire Leafs roster gets it... the team hasn't won since 1967 and they're constantly the punchline in a never ending joke. But... he's tired of it.

When asked by a reporter today for his thoughts heading into a tough first round matchup against the back to back defending Stanley Cup champion Tampa Bay Lightning, Simmonds made it clear that he's tired of all the talk and that he and his teammates are going to do everything they can to change the narrative.

."We get sick and tired of hearing about it. But, you know, it's on us to change the narrative."

- Wayne Simmonds

Honestly, I like this from Simmonds. The fact of the matter is that he Leafs have struggled mightily in the playoffs in recent years. There's no getting around that. So, if you're a Leafs player you can either sit around and sulk about it or you can get out there and change the narrative. The puck drops at 7:30pm ET tonight and I have no doubt that Simmonds will be ready to go. The real question is... will his teammates show as much get up and go as him?
