I have to wonder if the National Hockey League's higher ups are going to be big fans of this rant from Boston Bruins broadcaster Jack Edwards.

On Saturday afternoon the Bruins were taking on the Nashville Predators and there was a moment during the game when the veteran voice of the Bruins appeared to really take exception to the actions of one player in particular. Now to be fair Jack Edwards is clearly a homer for the Boston Bruins, and he makes no bones about it, so his commentary is always going to be a little biased but this went well above beyond mere bias and appeared to come from a place of genuine disdain on the part of Edwards.

During the game Boston Bruins forward Matt Grzelcyk became tangled up with Nashville Predators forward Austin Watson along the boards as the two men battled for the puck. The result was Grzelcyk's stick getting caught in Watson's jersey and it was quite obvious that Watson felt there should have been a call against Grzelcyk on the play. Watson threw his hands straight up into the air as if to show the National Hockey League's officials on the ice that he was not holding on to the stick and that it had been in fact lodged into his equipment.

That was the moment at which Edwards began to absolutely rip apart Watson apart , likely due to the fact that he felt Watson was going way over the top to embellish the call, and he seemingly had no intention of stopping. Edwards when it on Watson not only for the fact that he was clearly being overly dramatic, but then continued to harp on the fact that Watson was only just returning from a massive suspension, one of the largest handed down by the National Hockey League in recent memory.

It was at this moment that it became clear, to me at least, that Edwards' felt genuine disgust towards the player on the ice as he then instructed fans listening to the broadcast to google why Watson was suspended. Edwards is of course referencing the domestic violence incident that took place between Watson and the mother of his child, and I must say I can hardly blame Edwards for not being a huge fan of Watson given the circumstances. That being said this is an NHL broadcast and you have to wonder if a line was crossed.
