Midway through the third period, the Ducks had a 1-0 lead over the Minnesota Wild. Everything appears to be fine until Antoine Vermette, who had a little chat with the linesmen earlier in the game, took a whack at one of them.
The linesman's move appeared to get Vermette's timing off and he lost the draw without contest. Frustrated, he slashed him in the back of the leg. Instantly, they blew off the whistle and threw the Anaheim Ducks' centerman out of the game.
We all remember when Dennis Wideman checked an official last season. The Calgary Flames' defenceman received a 20-game suspension, let's see how the NHL is going to manage this.
